Happy Holiday

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. OMHC is back up and running on the regular schedule after a great holiday!

The last two weeks here in beautiful Waynesvville, NC I’ve seen an increasing number of neck and shoulder pain patients.
Many of these patients have been referred because they don’t wish to have surgery if it’s not absolutely necessary. It is interesting how conditions and patients come in waves. Guess its been neck / shoulder and neuropathies lately.

Another interesting occurence is that many patients who have hand / arm pain and/or numbness and tingling are told they have carpal tunnel syndrome. I have noticed a large incidence of people who report similar symptoms to carpal tunnel syndrome but also report having neck and shoulder tension. Many of these patients have compression of the nerve as it passes through the thoracic outlet and not at the carpal tunnel [in the wrist] even though the symptoms appear distally in the hand or forearm, the problem is in the neck / shoulder. I have successfully treated many patients so that they do not have to suffer through a surgery, that in many cases does nothing to relieve the symptoms.

Anyway, hope everyone enjoyed Turkey day!
